Psychometric Profiling

Psychometric profiling is widely used across the globe during talent acquisition to assist in determining a person’s suitability for a role, and in talent development initiatives to develop deeper self awareness, build high-functioning teams, identify potential and retain talent.

There are a variety of psychometric assessments available that measure attributes such as aptitude, cognitive abilities, personality traits, behavioural styles and more. At OBSIDEA, we’re certified in two of the world’s leading profiling tools, The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument® (HBDI) which measures thinking styles, and Extended DISC® (EDISC) which measures behavioural styles.

When used thoughtfully, psychometrics are a powerful personal development tool that can be used to help individuals develop a deeper self awareness, discover what makes them unique, and develop their potential in ways they never thought possible. These insights can also help elevate performance across organisations by enhancing communication, collaboration and culture.

HBDI

The Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument ® (HBDI) is the world’s leading thinking styles assessment tool, backed by over 40 years of brain-based global research and validation.

Thinking influences everything we do, and the HBDI uses the Whole Brain® Model as a framework to decode and harness the cognitive diversity of individuals, teams, and organisations. It identifies an individual’s preferred approach to emotional, analytical, structural and strategic thinking, and provides a significantly increased level of personal understanding.

EDiSC

Extended DISC® is the world’s most advanced suite of DISC behavioural assessments, providing a framework for understanding human behaviour.

DISC measures behaviours through four central traits: dominance, influence, steadiness, and conscientiousness. EDISC expands upon the traditional DISC model, and unlike other DISC assessments measures an individual's natural (unconscious) behavioural style as well as their adjusted (conscious) style.

This enables Extended DISC® to identify and report on 160 different behavioural styles and provide additional insights into individual’s behaviour and other emotions. Learn more about Extended DISC® here.

We’ve used these tools in organisations we’ve worked both in and with, and we’ve seen the impact they can have firsthand on self-awareness, communication, motivation, and engagement across a variety of industries. With HBDI providing insights on thinking preferences and EDISC focusing on the impacts of behaviours, both tools are non judgemental and easily adopted into any organisation.
